Weave

Select the Weave layer type within the Layer Lab for an effect where the top material is cut into strips that are then woven together. The bottom material shows through the gaps in the weave. (As an alternative, the Substance Lab offers the possibility of finely woven cloth.) These are the properties that become available when this layer type is selected.

Property	Description
Weave Density X	Controls the number of woven strands along the horizontal direction.
Weave Density Y	Controls the number of woven strands along the vertical direction.
Material Orientation	Selecting "On Side" effectively rotates the source material by 90 degrees. This is useful in situations where the texture being woven is, for example, a wood texture with a grain that you would like to line up with the direction of the woven strips.
Reverse Weave	In a weave some strands are on top at certain points, while other strands are on the bottom. Use this property to flip the top and bottom strands.
Strip Width	Controls the width of the strips forming the weave. Decreasing this value results in bigger gaps in the weave through which the bottom material can be seen.
Distortion	Controls how crooked the strands are.
Bevel Width	Alters the width of the bevel along the sides of the strands.
Bevel Depth	Changes the depth of the bevel along the sides of the strands.
Bevel Curve	Positive values result in a convex bevel along the sides of the strands, while negative values result in a concave bevel.
Under-Weave Softness	Depending on the setting of the following property, strands will appear darker at points where they are underneath other strands. Use this property to specify how soft or gradual the transition will be between dark areas and light areas of the strands.
Under-Weave Darkness	Controls how dark strands appear at points where they are underneath other strands.
Shadow X	Controls the horizontal displacement of the shadow cast by the weave onto the bottom material.
Shadow Y	Controls the vertical displacement of the shadow cast by the weave onto the bottom material.
Shadow Softness	Controls the edge softness of the shadow cast by the weave onto the bottom material.
Shadow Color	Specifies the color of the shadow that the weave casts onto the bottom material. Brighter colors will result in a fainter shadow, with white causing the shadow to disappear altogether.
Horizontal Strand Color	Sets the color used to tint all horizontal strands. Set color to white for this property to have no effect.
Vertical Strand Color	Sets the color used to tint all vertical strands.
Edge Color	Sets the color used to tint the edges of all strands.
Bottom "Select Type..." button	Click this button to select from a number of ready-to-use weave patterns.
