The Source section of the Blend Synthesis layer type affects how the seamless texture is created.
The Synthesis Mode property at the top of this section specifies the technique used to create the texture. Depending on how it is set, different properties will appear below it.
Fold Edges
With Synthesis Mode set to "Fold Edges," the image is made seamless by stretching parts of it past each edge.

Stretch X and Y |
Two properties that specify how far the image should be stretched in each direction for the purpose of making it seamless. Parts of the image that are stretched past its edge are wrapped over the opposite edge. For each new photograph you should experiment with these properties to find the most desirable alignment. |
Feather X and Y |
A pair of properties that control the softness of the part of the image that is stretched over each edge. |
Repeat |
Shrinks the resulting texture and then repeats it to cover the entire area. |
Star Blend
With Synthesis Mode set to "Star Blend," two copies of the image are placed in the resulting texture: one in the center and one at the corners.
