|
The Text tool is used to add text or symbols to your design. It can be selected from the Canvas toolbox.
Text takes on a life of its own when combined with styles.
Workspace
To create a new text object, ensure that the Text tool is selected, click any empty spot in the workspace, and type the desired text.
Existing Text objects and Shapes can also be selected and moved as described for the Transform tool.
Text Section
With a text object selected, type the desired text into the box appearing in the Text section of the Text tool's ribbon. Press enter only if you wish to create a multi-line text object, otherwise simply stop typing when finished and allow the text object to update automatically.
You may occasionally open a Genetica document (GTX file) and find that the text is not editable. GTX files contain text objects "baked" as artistic shapes, but they do not embed the actual font. If a GTX is opened on a computer that does not have the needed font, the document will render as its original creator intended, and the user will be able to position and scale the text object as can be done with other objects. However, the user will not be able to modify the text until the user selects a different font or installs the missing font on their system.
A web search will reveal a number of sites containing thousands of freely downloadable fonts, and finding a missing font is often as simple as searching for it. But as always when downloading resources from the web, it's a good idea to check the licensing terms under which they can be used.

This section will not appear if the selected text object uses a font that is not found on the user's computer. In this case, select a different font to make the section appear.
Spacing Section
This section will not appear if the selected text object uses a font that is not found on the user's computer. In this case, select a different font to make the section appear.
