Node-Based Engine Previous    Page 19 of 25    Next

At the heart of Genetica is a powerful node-based engine.  This means that every step in the process of constructing a texture is laid out visually in such a way that it can be easily understood and edited.

Genetica lays out textures in a way that is easy to understand and edit.

The above illustration shows how a water texture may appear in the editor.  Due to Genetica's flexible node-based system, any aspect of a texture can be edited in any desired order, significantly boosting productivity.  Since no change to a texture is ever permanent, costly mistakes are eliminated.

Inserting a new node is as easy as dragging it from the library to its desired location.

As shown in the above illustration, replacing the material beneath the water with a new one can be completed with a simple mouse drag.  The rest of the texture tree will automatically update to reflect any changes made.

This is the rendered texture, before and after the single adjustment.

The illustration above shows what the water texture looked like before and after the adjustment.  As you can see, a single quick adjustment is all that was necessary to convert a water texture that was appropriate for an outdoor setting into one that was appropriate for a science fiction setting, like the inside of a nuclear facility.
